Even Oregon’s hard working musicians are entitled to a bit of a break from their labors this weekend, but despite the short schedule, plenty of them will still be hard at work bringing some end of summer sounds to the state. This afternoon Labor Day concert marks the debut of a new chamber ensemble founded by Eugene Symphony concertmaster Searmi Park, and features music by Richard Strauss  and Beethoven — including the Septet that was one of his most popular works in his time.

Improvising solo soprano saxophonist Williams musically deconstructs 75 years of Disney songbook classics (hey, even Miles covered “Someday My Prince Will Come”), while New York free improvising guitarist/singer/composer Siegel also performs.
