Film Notes: new NWFC calendar, POWFest call for entries

Summer viewing starts to come into focus w/schedules for the Portland Jewish Film Festival & Top Down now online

  • The Northwest Film Center has started to post its summer schedule, including the lineups for June’s Portland Jewish Film Festival and the annual Top Down Rooftop Cinema. Highlights of the former include Natalie Portman’s feature directing debut, the Amos Oz adaptation “A Tale of Love and Darkness” (June 18), the Polish horror film “Demon,” which played during this year’s PIFF After Dark (June 26), and the French drama “Once in a Lifetime” (June 29), written by high school student Ahmed Drame and based on his experiences learning about the Holocaust. Documentary profile subjects include Norman Lear and Hannah Arendt. The festival runs from June 15-29.
