“SEA DOGS”

Tonight I’m heading dockside for Carlos Gonzalez’ SEA DOGS at 12128 Boat Space. Performance at 9 PM, but I’m heading out early because a.) the event is from 8-11 PM and performance is at 9 SHARP (hear that loose-sense-of-time Portlanders?) and b.) because I’ve never been out there to the art boat at Multnomah Yacht Harbor and I have a sneaking suspicion one could become lost.

Gonzalez has done performance works at Carhole Gallery, Appendix Project Space, and for LowLives3, an international internet-based performance festival hosted in Portland by PICA. I wrote this about 4More, his performance at Appendix.

I think I can safely say it will be worth the trip.

A MINIMAL, POST-MODERN, EXPERIMENTAL, REPRESENTATIONAL, INTERPRETIVE, ABSTRACT, NON-TRADITIONAL, UNORTHODOX, CONCEPTUAL, LUMINAL, MIND-FUCK, DANCE, THEATRICAL DISPLAY OF BODY MOTION THAT EXPRESSES A STRUGGLE OF CONTROL AND LOSS THEREOF EXPERIENCED THROUGH A CONTINUAL CONVERGENCE OF EXPERIENTIAL INTERACTION WITH THE OTHER AND SELF, WITH THE ACCEPTED PRESENCE OF THE AUDIENCE AS AN EQUAL FORCE WITHIN THE SPACE.

1 2 1 2 8 is located at:
Multnomah Yacht Harbor
12900 NW Marina Way
Portland, OR 97231
[FROM I-5 NORTH]
Take exit 302B (405-South/30-W exit) across the
Fremont Bridge.
Take exit 3 (US 30) (just at the end of the bridge)
towards NW Industrial Area/St. Helens.
Follow the 30-W for about 7 miles and take a right
on NW Marina Way.
Turn right into Multnomah Yacht Harbor—it’s the
first right turn after Fred’s Marina.
Park in the gravel parking lot next to the ramp
that leads to the harbor area.
Continue through the gate and walk down the ramp.
Follow the dock to the right towards the Labrador
(the largest boat in the area).
