New York artist Nik Pence is the latest to do a residency at Appendix Project Space (in the south alley between 26th and 27th avenues, off of NE Alberta Street), resulting in the exhibition IN which opens tonight, Thursday, July 28 with a reception from 6:30 to 10 PM. He started with “a small collection of hand-carved tools,” to create “a collection of double mementos poised between a remote context and a lost referent.”

AND Cathy Cleaver is doing a performance in the Hay Batch space at 7 PM. For Yearning, Burning, and Churning, Cleaver uses an exercise bike that has been modified to churn butter as it is pedaled for this endurance piece.
