Laura Ross-Paul's "Leap" from her new website

We’ve collected a few items of some local import in recent days (which we plastered on our Facebook page), and here they are!

Job Alert: The Museum of Contemporary Craft, which just added the job of museum director to chief curator Namita Wigger’s plate, is looking for an associate curator… and fast. Deadline for application is July 1, and the museum wants to have someone in place by September. It pays $34k-$40k.

The Portland Cello Project will invades the vast prairie spaces of Garrison Keillor’s public radio show A Prairie Home Companion, when the Public Radio Divinity broadcasts from Eugene’s Cuthbert Amphitheater on June 16.  The only surprise is that PCP hasn’t made that scene before now! Newgrass pioneer Sam Bush also performs.

One of the themes of Oregon ArtsWatch: We neglect our cultural history, which is almost the same thing as having it stolen from us. So, we’re always happy when artists do some online archiving of their work, especially when she’s as central to arts in these precincts as Laura Ross-Paul. And yes, check out her new website.

The Hallie Ford Fellows in Visual Arts were named by the Ford Family Foundation earlier this week—Ellen Lesperance (PNCA), Akihiko Miyoshi (Reed College) and Michelle Ross (OCAC ). A fellow receives an unrestricted grant of $25,000, and these three and the previous two classes of artists will be included in a traveling exhibition next year.

I post regularly on OPB’s Arts&Life page, a little column called Weekend Wrap, and the last one before I take some time off from that duty gathered a few thoughts on Joe Sacco (who was interviewed at Mercy Corps), It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues (Portland Center Stage) and Jamb (TopShakeDance).
