Thursday, November 3 · 6:00pm – 8:00pm

I’d wanted to write about Amy Bernstein’s work in this summer’s Art&Leisure show curated by Sam Korman at the Colonel Sumner Park tennis court. Her looping rope sculptures marked by wrapped cord, and if I recall correctly, paint, were Best in Show as memory serves. Now I’m seeing the image of those sculptures showing up in what I’ve seen of these paintings…and I’m intrigued.

Froelick Gallery

Open until 8 PM

I’ve been watching this show as it’s being installed: great oil paintings that manage to be both playful and thoughtful depicting in an abstract manner the architectural and organic intersecting, overlaying, melding into one another.

Appendix Project Space @ 937
937 NW Glisan Street
Opening Reception Thursday, November 3rd, 7 – 11 PM

Yes! The @937 project continues to bring the best contemporary programming from the Eastside and beyond to the Pearl. Fourteen30, Rocksbox Fine Art, and Ditch Projects have all programmed the space. Now the best reason to see art on NE Alberta, Appendix Space, brings it to @937. First up, Target Language, is a video show with work by Andrew Norman Wilson, Anne de Vries, Harm van den Dorpel, and Oliver Laric.

Steven Goldman Gallery (Art Institute)

And I’ll be checking out this exhibition. I’m especially interested in Vanessa Calvert’s work, and of course, Reda, Moss, and Gilley.

I was thinking what is this Steven Goldman Gallery? Google let me know it’s at the Art Institute. How is this show happening there, one might ask. And I suspect Caitlin Moore (former co-director of Gallery HOMELAND) has a lot (everything?) to do with it.
