In this Rantum Scoot—an outing with no particular destination—veteran Portland dancer/choreographers Linda Austin and Gregg Bielemeier, alongside visiting New York dance artist Bob Eisen (originally seen in Portland in 2012 in 4 Men Only), will explore a range of ideas distilled into three solos. Austin will perform yes, AND…, Bielemeier will perform Hello, my name is Gregory Michael Christopher Bielemeier, first eliminated from the Spelling Bee and last chosen for the Team, and Eisen will perform RESEVIC.
They will be joined by Leah Wilmoth and Sada Naegelin, who will be performing in their own work, I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra, a title borrowed from Carrie Fisher’s dream obituary, that explores a range of female archetypes and experiments with and distorts pop culture.

Choreographer Danielle Ross, in collaboration with singer Stephanie Lavon Trotter, sound artist Chloe Alexandra Thompson, video artist DB Amorin, and performers Oluyinka Akinjiola, Claire Barrera, keyon gaskin and Simeon Jacob, will explore ideas and images around sonic feedback looping. Apparatus explores “looping ritual, gesture, identity creation, experience, and voice” while asking what and who gets lost, and what remains in a social feedback loop.

In response to Portland’s rapid growth and the challenges it poses to pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles alike, choreographers Heidi Duckler, Carla Mann, Conrad Kaczor, Kiel Moton, and Catherine Egan have responded with five dances or “rides” in and around different modes of transportation. The performances which focus on personal stories of identity and relationships, will take place in the parking lot of the Marine Artists Studios in the old NW Marine Iron Works building, and will be ongoing from 7-9 pm.
Heidi Duckler Dance Theater/Northwest directed by Heidi Duckler and Carla Mann is interested in redefining audience performer relationships by positioning dance in unusual places.

For eight years now NW Dance Project has put out a call looking for new choreographers through their Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition. Each year the winners create a new work on the dancers participating in the Launch Project: NW Dance Projects summer training intensive. This year’s winners are Alice Klock, a dancer with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago since 2009, and Alysa Pires, a Toronto-based choreographer and artistic director of her own company, Alysa Pires Dance Projects. The choreographers are given 18 hours to make a dance on 32 dancers.
